Simard Bilodeau Contemporary is pleased to present WILD ONES, a summer group exhibition featuring the works of emerging to mid-career artists: Sara Boccaccini Meadows (UK-USA), Tyler Keeton Robbins (Canada), Emma Larsson (Sweden), Larry Lewis (USA), Michael Nauert (USA), Kelsey Overstreet (USA), Vince Palacios (USA), Helga Schmidhuber (Germany), Holger Schmidhuber (Germany) and Tuan Vu (Vietnam-Canada). The exhibition focuses on the expression of feline species in respect with each artist’s unique genre, with mediums ranging from paper and canvas, to ceramic.
WILD ONES is an invitation to be immersed into the jungle of primitive colors, shapes and forms with the purpose of offering a moment of freedom for the mind and the spirit; a moment to be tangled in visual flora and fauna. In a time where many of us, in different ways, feel in captivity, limited in the possibility of emancipation and growth, the essence of wild felines offers a sense of empowerment and liberation into which we can project ourselves.
As the world around us continues to be shaken, here we take a break. We offer an outlet to pause and rest, inviting you to grasp a blimp of what it means to be a wild one, a moment to embody the spirit animal inside of each of us.
The exhibition is composed of twenty artworks by ten local and international artists: from gouache, watercolor and sand on paper; mixed media and oil on canvas; to ceramic sculptures.
