Biography

Diana Ruban (b.1999) is a Ukranian artist born in the Poltava region, in the city of Kremenchuk. She is currently living and working in her birthplace.

Ruban’s love for art began when she was very young. She began drawing as a young child, and after receiving her first acrylic paints at 16, her blossoming artistry became a thirst for something bigger. A completely self-taught artist, Ruban has no formal training. Instead, she has raw, passionate talent and an eagerness to realize her inner life; her work is often deeply personal. Central to Ruban’s work is her dedication to representing the female form. As a young woman herself, she is aware of the framework of society, its restriction and systemic silencing of women. Ruban’s women are not held back by these oppressive forces, instead, she imagines them as reborn even despite suffering; strong, sincere, and secure. She channels her emotion and experience through her work, to reshape the world, and show it as it could be.

While still early in her career, Ruban has already exhibited internationally, participating in group shows in Turkey, Scotland, Switzerland, and the US, as well as solo shows in her home country of Ukraine. Her work was featured in Harper’s Bazaar in 2024.
